About the Client

Arrow Transport Logistics & Quarantine Services (Arrow) is a Melbourne-based logistics and warehousing service provider that specialises in wharf cartage, container storage, warehousing and distribution.

The Problem

Since its inception in 2011, Arrow had grown to occupy a number of properties in Melbourne’s inner west, splitting its operations between multiple sites. To accommodate additional growth, bring all its locations under one roof and elevate its operations in line with its growing ambition, Arrow was looking for a new centralized facility. Its business model necessitated it to be located within close proximity of the Port of Melbourne and the diversity in its service offering required a highly specialised facility that couldn’t be found in the existing market.

The Solution

Cadence worked with Arrow to secure a site in Toll Drive, Altona North, a location ideal for Arrow’s business due to its physical make up (i.e. extra wide streets and sites with more width than depth) and its proximity to the Westgate Freeway and the Port of Melbourne. The subject site presented a number of difficulties for traditional warehousing, however was perfect for Arrow’s ideal layout and was able to be purchased at well below market rates keeping development costs low. Cadence worked with Arrow to design a bespoke facility that allowed it to accommodate its various service offerings on a single site in the most efficient manner possible, while also accommodating the ability to expand its container hardstand in the future.

The Result

Cadence was able to design and construction a multipurpose logistics facility for Arrow, which on completion comprised of a 4,907sqm office and warehouse, a 6,000sqm 110 tonne container rated hardstand with an expansion of 3,000sqm and a workshop and enclosed AQIS approved wash bay. At practical completion Arrow entered into a seven-year lease and successfully consolidated all its operations into a state-of-the-art logistics facility.
