Visy Glass is Australia and New Zealand’s leading glass container manufacturer, producing containers for beer, groceries, wine, medical goods and more. Visy supplies some of Australia’s largest beverage companies in Australia including CUB, Asahi and Schweppes.
Visy’s existing manufacturing and distribution process saw them load finished glass containers onto trucks and transport them several kilometres to their distribution facility for storage prior to being sent to the final customer. This process was not only expensive but would also sometimes lead to damaged product during transit, which meant product loss.
Cadence worked with Visy from a very early stage to design a solution that would allow them to consolidate their manufacturing and distribution operations into one central location. The team utilised our in-house Design & Construct capability to produce a user friendly layout whilst also investigating and overcoming numerous site constraints.
Split into two 19,344sqm and 14,730sqm warehouses, the facility has enabled Visy to realise significant cost savings relating to distribution and product loss whilst also rejuvenating a dilapidated site in Melbourne’s inner west. The rich industrial heritage of the site was preserved through the re-use of recycled timber and the incorporation of several large murals created by local artists, Kitt Bennett and Georgia Hill. Our team has gone above and beyond to bring this unique facility to its final form as one of the largest infill industrial facilities to be built in recent years.
