About the Client

O-I is the world’s leading glass container manufacturer, producing containers for beer, groceries, wine, medical goods and more. The Company operates 77 glass manufacturing plants in 23 countries including plants in Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia and Queensland. O-I supplies some of Australia’s largest beverage companies in Australia including CUB, Asahi and Schweppes.

The Problem

O-I’s existing manufacturing and distribution process saw them load finished glass containers onto trucks and transport them several kilometres to their distribution facility for storage prior to being sent to the final customer. This process was not only expensive but would also sometimes lead to damaged product during transit, which meant product loss. O-I were looking for a solution to reduce this leg from their supply chain by bringing their warehousing requirement to the same location as their manufacturing plant. The site adjacent to their manufacturing facility was vacant but had several constraints preventing development.
